Reassure before you sell
Order details and delivery expectation above the offer. The page has a job before it has an upsell.
Integrations / Post-purchase upsell
The thank-you page is the most under-used real estate on a Shopify store. The customer has already paid, already trusts you, and is looking at a page most brands leave completely blank.
WHY THIS MATTERS
A post-purchase upsell is the rare conversion tactic with almost no downside: the order is already banked, the card is already authorised, and a declined offer costs you nothing. ReConvert is the app we deploy most for this because its one-click offers do not require the customer to re-enter payment details, and because the thank-you page builder lets you add tracking, referral, and review prompts alongside the offer. The mistake stores make is treating it as a second checkout rather than a natural next step. Check what a lift is worth in the AOV calculator first.
The same sequence we follow on client stores. Do them in order — several of the later steps depend on decisions made in the earlier ones.
Install ReConvert from the Shopify App Store and grant the checkout and order scopes. The app takes over the post-purchase and thank-you experience, so review what your theme currently shows there before you replace it.
Before adding any upsell, make the page genuinely useful: order summary, real delivery expectation, tracking, and a support contact. A thank-you page that only sells reads as greed; one that reassures and then offers reads as service.
One. Choose a product that pairs naturally with what they just bought and costs meaningfully less than the original order. The one-click flow means no re-entered card details, which is the entire reason this converts.
A post-purchase offer usually needs a real incentive to work, but the discount has to survive your gross margin — including the shipping you are about to add to a heavier parcel. Run it through the profit margin calculator rather than defaulting to a round number.
If the first offer is declined, a cheaper alternative converts better than a bigger ask. Two escalating offers in a row is where customers start feeling handled.
Add a review prompt, a referral link, or a WhatsApp opt-in. This audience is at peak goodwill and it will never be cheaper to ask them for something.
A post-purchase upsell can create a second order or an edited one depending on configuration. Check how it lands in your fulfilment process and with your courier before you turn it on for everyone.
Place a real test order on a phone. Then judge the offer by profit contribution, not acceptance rate — a heavily discounted upsell with a great take rate can still lose money.
The three things that separate a working setup from a default one — drawn from the stores we ship, not from the documentation.
Order details and delivery expectation above the offer. The page has a job before it has an upsell.
Escalating asks convert worse and feel worse.
Discount plus extra shipping can quietly make a popular upsell unprofitable.

We set this up on every store we build, and we do it as standalone work too. Start with a free audit — we will tell you what is worth changing before you spend anything.
What clients ask us about this integration before we set it up.
They solve different moments. ReConvert owns the post-purchase and thank-you page; Bold Upsell works in the product and cart stages before checkout. Plenty of stores run both — see our best Shopify upsell apps roundup.
A relevant one-click offer after a completed purchase rarely does. A stack of escalating offers absolutely does. The restraint is the strategy.
One-click post-purchase offers rely on Shopify's post-purchase extension, which is available on standard Shopify plans. Verify against your current plan and checkout configuration before you build the offer.
