iDEAL as the primary method
Not one option among many — the one Dutch shoppers look for first. We put it where they expect it and make sure the flow is clean on mobile.

In the Netherlands, checkout starts with iDEAL. Get that wrong and nothing else on the page matters.

THE MARKET
The Netherlands is a small market that punishes generic builds. Dutch shoppers are among the most experienced online buyers in Europe, they have a strong default payment method that most foreign stores get wrong, and they have a dominant local marketplace setting their expectations for delivery and returns. The upside is that meeting those expectations is well-defined work — this is not a market where you have to guess what good looks like.
Not one option among many — the one Dutch shoppers look for first. We put it where they expect it and make sure the flow is clean on mobile.
PostNL and DHL pickup-point selection built into the delivery step, because collecting from a nearby point is a mainstream Dutch preference.
High English proficiency does not mean Dutch shoppers want to buy in English. We build the architecture for a genuine Dutch storefront.
A direct store competes on brand, range depth and experience — not on matching a marketplace’s logistics. We build to that strategy.
A short list, but an unforgiving one — Dutch e-commerce has strong defaults and shoppers notice when you miss them.
iDEAL is the bank-transfer method Dutch consumers reach for first when paying online. A Dutch checkout without it looks broken to a local shopper, no matter how good the rest of the store is. Credit cards play a much smaller role here than in the UK or the US; PayPal and Klarna fill in around the edges.
PostNL is the dominant carrier, with DHL also widely used. Next-day delivery is a normal expectation, and pickup-point collection is genuinely popular rather than a fallback — so pickup-point selection belongs in the checkout flow, not as an afterthought in the shipping settings.
English proficiency in the Netherlands is high, which misleads a lot of foreign brands into shipping English-only. Dutch shoppers can read your English store and will still trust a Dutch one more — and only the Dutch one ranks for Dutch-language search.
The dominant local marketplace has trained Dutch shoppers on delivery speed, returns ease and review depth. A direct store does not beat it on logistics; it wins on brand, curation, product content and owned customer relationships. The build should reflect that strategy rather than imitating a marketplace.
The statutory 14-day right of withdrawal applies, VAT is shown inclusive in consumer prices, and GDPR means analytics and advertising tags need consent before they fire. Your advisor confirms what applies to your business; we build the store to match.
What we typically build with here
Multilingual storefronts are routine for us — the bilingual builds in our portfolio use the same architecture a Dutch-language store needs, and our examples pages show how they are put together.
There is no Dutch office. We are a Cairo studio working with Dutch brands remotely, one hour ahead of Amsterdam, in English. Dutch customer-facing copy is written by a native Dutch writer rather than machine-translated — we build the storefront that carries it.
Live stores we designed, built and still maintain.
Same team, same studio — different rails, languages and rules.

Yes — it is available through Shopify Payments in supported regions and through several third-party gateways. Which route is right depends on your entity and the rest of your payment mix, so we map that before building.
If you want to rank for Dutch-language searches and convert Dutch shoppers at a normal rate, yes. English-only stores can sell in the Netherlands, but they consistently leave conversion and organic visibility on the table.
No. We are in Cairo, one hour ahead of Amsterdam, and we work with Dutch brands remotely. No Dutch office, no Dutch phone number — just a team that overlaps with your working day almost entirely.
Often yes, but for different reasons — the marketplace buys you reach, and your own store buys you margin, brand and customer data. We build the store so it is genuinely worth choosing over the marketplace listing, starting with a free store audit of where you stand today.
