Shopify Development
for the UK

UK storefronts built by a Cairo team two hours ahead of London — with the VAT, carrier and post-Brexit shipping detail handled properly.

THE MARKET

The UK is a mature Shopify market, which cuts both ways: the platform works natively, the payment and shipping ecosystem is deep, and every competitor already has a decent store. Differentiation moves to the things that are harder to copy — page speed, merchandising, lifecycle marketing and a returns experience that does not feel like a punishment. The operational detail that trips brands up is rarely the storefront; it is VAT treatment and shipping into the EU after Brexit.

What we build for the UK

Native Shopify Payments setup

Shopify Payments is available in the UK, which simplifies the stack considerably. We configure it properly and add Klarna, Clearpay, PayPal and the wallets alongside.

VAT handled at the right layer

Tax settings, price display and invoicing configured so the store shows VAT-inclusive prices correctly and your accounting receives what it needs.

Carrier and returns integration

Royal Mail, Evri and DPD wired into fulfilment, with a self-service returns flow that nudges exchange before refund.

Speed as the differentiator

In a mature market, Core Web Vitals are one of the few remaining structural advantages. We target sub-two-second loads on every build.

What selling in the UK actually requires

Where UK e-commerce differs in practice from the rest of Europe and from the MENA markets we build for.

Payments & checkout

Shopify Payments is natively supported, which removes a whole layer of gateway complexity. Around it, UK shoppers expect PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and buy-now-pay-later through Klarna or Clearpay is close to a default expectation in fashion and lifestyle categories.

VAT & pricing display

Consumer prices are shown inclusive of VAT, and the standard rate applies to most goods — though zero and reduced rates apply to some categories, including certain food, books and children’s clothing. Registration thresholds and category treatment are questions for your accountant; we make sure the store’s tax configuration and price display match whatever they confirm.

Post-Brexit EU shipping

Selling from the UK into the EU now means customs declarations, an EORI number, commodity codes on products, and a decision about IOSS for low-value consignments. It is the single most common source of unpleasant surprises for UK brands expanding into Europe, and it is a store-configuration problem as much as a logistics one.

Carriers & delivery choice

Royal Mail, Evri, DPD and Yodel dominate domestic delivery, and UK shoppers expect a choice of speeds plus click-and-collect or pickup-point options at checkout. Presenting that choice clearly at the right step measurably reduces abandonment.

Consent is legally required

UK GDPR and PECR mean analytics and advertising cookies need consent before they fire — not a banner that sets them anyway. If you are running GA4 or a Meta Pixel, this is a build requirement, not a nice-to-have, and we set it up as part of the project.

How we work with the UK

We have no UK office. We are a Cairo studio serving UK clients remotely, two hours ahead of London — so your morning starts with work already done rather than a handover. Everything we build for the UK is quoted, contracted and delivered from Egypt, and we would rather you knew that upfront.

  • Where we are: Cairo, Egypt — our only office.
  • Local presence in the UK: none. No office, no local phone line, no local staff.
  • How we deliver: remotely, in English, with scheduled calls and a named lead on your project.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Common questions about working with us in the UK.

Are you a UK company?

No — we are based in Cairo, Egypt, and we work with UK brands remotely. There is no UK office and no UK phone line. If a local legal entity is a hard requirement for your procurement process, tell us early so we can be clear about whether we are a fit.

How does the time difference work in practice?

Cairo is two hours ahead of the UK. In practice that means we have usually made a day’s progress before your team logs on, and we keep the afternoon open for live calls. Most UK clients find it works in their favour.

Can you help with shipping into the EU after Brexit?

We handle the store-side configuration — commodity codes on products, duty and tax presentation at checkout, and the data your carrier or customs broker needs. The customs and IOSS registration decisions themselves sit with you and your logistics or tax advisor.

Do you set up cookie consent?

Yes, and for UK and EU-facing stores we treat it as part of the build rather than an add-on, because analytics and pixel tags should not be firing before a visitor has agreed to them.
