Shopify's own payment processor doesn't operate in Egypt or most of the Gulf. To take money you add a local payment gateway — Paymob, PayTabs, Kashier or Geidea — as a third-party provider inside Shopify checkout. A single gateway typically covers cards, mobile wallets, Apple Pay, instalments and cash on delivery, so the choice of gateway is the decision that shapes everything else.
In Egypt, shoppers look for valU, Sympl, Souhoola, Halan, Forsa and bank card instalments at checkout — usually enabled through Paymob, where the customer picks their provider. In Saudi Arabia the equivalents are Tabby and Tamara. Apple Pay works on Shopify in the region when it is enabled through Paymob or PayTabs. Wallets like Fawry and STC Pay (Saudi) route through the same gateways. No — Shopify Payments is not available in Egypt. You accept payments by connecting a local gateway (Paymob, PayTabs, Kashier or Geidea) as a third-party provider in Shopify checkout, which unlocks cards, wallets, Apple Pay, instalments and cash on delivery.
Paymob is the most common choice because a single integration covers cards, mobile wallets, instalments, BNPL and cash on delivery. PayTabs and Geidea are strong for cross-border and Saudi coverage.
