How much survives
Keeping your theme foundation and replacing templates is materially cheaper than starting the design system again. Be honest about whether the theme is genuinely the problem.
Pricing / Redesign
Redesigns range from $2,500 for a focused fix to a full rebuild at new-store prices. The expensive mistake is redesigning when what you had was a conversion problem.
STRAIGHT ANSWER
Roughly half the redesign enquiries we get do not need a redesign. They need a faster product page, a checkout with fewer steps, or reviews where the decision happens. A full visual rebuild is a real project with a real cost, and it is worth being sure that is the problem before you buy the solution. So this page covers three tiers, and it says plainly which one most stores should start with.
These are the numbers we quote, not illustrative examples. They are the starting ranges by scope — the estimator further down this page takes the same figures and adjusts them for design level, features, and timeline.
| Scope | Cost | Timeline | What that covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Targeted conversion work | $2,500 – $6,000 | 2 – 4 weeks | Product page, cart drawer, and checkout flow improvements on your existing theme. No visual rebrand. This is where most stores get the best return. |
| Partial redesign | $6,000 – $12,000 | 4 – 8 weeks | New homepage, collection, and product templates on your existing theme foundation. Keeps what works, replaces what does not. |
| Full redesign and rebuild | $8,000 – $20,000 | 6 – 12 weeks | New design system and custom theme, same as a new store build. Right when the brand has genuinely moved on or the theme is beyond extending. |
On the floor: Our $2,500 floor buys focused, evidenced work on the pages that convert — not a coat of paint spread thin across a whole store.
Where a project lands inside those ranges is decided by a handful of things. These are them, in roughly the order they matter.

If the information architecture changes — new collections, new filtering taxonomy — every product needs re-tagging. On a large catalogue that is a substantial line item on its own.
A new design usually exposes that half your product photography is inconsistent. That is a real cost, and it belongs in the plan rather than in a surprise.
Reviews, upsells, loyalty, and search widgets all need re-placing in the new templates. Not difficult, but not free either.
If URLs or the IA change, you need redirects — the same discipline as a migration, at smaller scale. See migration costs.
The part most pricing pages leave out
We will look at your analytics before quoting a redesign, and sometimes that conversation ends with us recommending the $2,500 conversion work instead of the $15,000 rebuild. That is a worse quarter for us and a better outcome for you, and it is why the store audit is free — it is the cheapest way for both of us to find out which problem you actually have. A redesign that fixes an imaginary problem is the most expensive thing on this page.

The questions we get asked on every pricing call.
Only if design was the constraint. If your conversion problem is page speed, unclear shipping costs, or no reviews, a redesign can even make it worse by changing things that were working. Diagnose first.
Usually yes, and we prefer to. Keeping URLs stable removes the main SEO risk from a redesign entirely.
When the theme fights every change you want, when performance cannot be fixed without touching the foundation, or when the brand has genuinely moved on. Otherwise, start smaller.
Yes, and we often recommend it — product page first, since that is where the money is, then collections, then the homepage. Each phase pays for the next.
